Team "Making It Grow" visits GrowFood Carolina in Charleston, SC and talks with general manager Sara Clow. GrowFood officially opened its doors in 2011 at a warehouse in downtown Charleston. Over the past four years, the hub has grown from marketing for 5 producers to more than 75, all in the state of South Carolina. GrowFood provides local farmers the sales, marketing, logistics, warehousing and distribution functions they need and that previously have been available only to large-scale industrial farms.

This time she invited Beach Loveland from Loveland Coffee. This is a socially responsible Specialty Coffee Roaster & Drive-Thru in Columbia, South Carolina serving Certified Fair Trade Organic Coffee since 2012.

Team "Making It Grow" visits with the 2016 South Carolina Swisher Sweets/Sunbelt Expo Farmer of the Year Kerry Owen of Bee Well Honey in Pickens, SC. Owen’s business focuses on streamlined production and distribution. In addition to raising bees and running a store, Owen also offers educational boot camps for beginning and advanced beekeepers. He also plans to start a Honeybee College.

Team Making It Grow traveled to Whispering Pines in Mauldin, SC where Debbie Webster and her team provide not only products from their Sheep and Goat milk, but also extensive horseback riding lessons for children and adults. When we arrived, our host Clemson Extension Agent Amanda McNulty along with some local 4H’ers lent a helping hand as a mother sheep had just given birth to five little ones minutes earlier!
