Wintry weather cut this week's session of the SC General Assembly short, but lawmakers had plenty of questions for the CEO of Dominion Energy.  Domion Energy has proposed to buy SCANA Corp., the parent company of South Carolina Electric and Gas.

The South Carolina House and Senate canceled their daily session and legislative meetings for Thursday due to inclement weather affecting part of the state. Gov. Henry McMaster postponed his State of the State address to next Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m.

Nuclear is expected to dominate this year's session.  Also, this week the House of Representatives wasted little time in overriding Gov. Henry McMaster's veto of some $20 million dollars for new school buses.

Former Astronaut and Head of NASA Makes Compelling Speech for Bi-Partisanship Governing

Maj. Gen. Charles F. Bolden, Jr. was recently honored with the David H. Wilkins Award for Excellence in Civic Leadership presented by the Riley Institute at Furman University. Bolden served as the 12th Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under President Obama. Born and raised in Columbia, Bolden was an astronaut and naval aviator. He retired from the Marine Corps in 2003, and his many military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame in May 2006.
