Earth Month was celebrated in April and the annual Earth Day celebration happened on April 22.  Local nature lovers enjoyed the abundance of content on scetv.org in April. 

We will dive into the top ten local programming episodes from April 2025 and take a look at what's coming in May 2025.

10. Coastal Kingdom - Insects 

Host Tony Mills takes a walk through a field of wildflowers and looks at insects making a living in that habitat. Guest Dr. Dwight Williams talks with Tony about pollinators.

 

9. Wild Wild South - Marshes and Beaches

Host Hyatt Mamoun explores incredibly biodiverse marshes and beaches and meets the critters that call these unique habitats home, such as the great blue heron, the American white ibis, and the good ol’ American alligator.

8. Making It Grow - Dr. Doug Tallamy and the SCBG Bird Garden

Amanda and Terasa are joined by Carmen Ketron, Stephanie Turner, and Tom Nelson. Dr. Doug Tallamy, shares his insights on the vital role native plants play in supporting biodiversity. We visit the South Carolina Botanical bird garden.

In part two of the series, Tony continues an exploration of invasive species. This episode includes the Caribbean land crab, lionfish and mediterranean gecko.

1. Coastal Kingdom - Exotic Introductions of the Lowcountry Part 1

In the first of this two-part series, Tony examines some of the non-native species that now call South Carolina home. Species include brown anoles, greenhouse frogs, fire ants and yellow-legged hornets.
