Agency announces Bobbi Kennedy Scholarship opportunity for educators

South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) is celebrating educators during Teacher Appreciation Week, held May 8-12, 2023. As part of this celebration, SCETV and the ETV Endowment announced the Bobbi Kennedy Scholarship which provides funding for South Carolina teachers to incorporate health and well-being into basic curriculum.

SCETV and the ETV Endowment will award two $1,200 scholarships-- one to an active teacher and one to a pre-service teacher. Scholarship funds may be used to cover the purchase of teaching and learning materials, student field trips associated with a lesson plan, and teacher preparation time to include planning for a professional development workshop.

Dedicating 49 years to SCETV, Bobbi Kennedy was an education advocate and yoga enthusiast. The Bobbi Kennedy Scholarship recognizes educators and provides financial support to create fun and impactful learning experiences for South Carolina students.

The deadline for applications is June 9 and scholarships awardees will be notified by June 16. Visit the Bobbi Kennedy Scholarship webpage for more application details and eligibility requirements.

In addition to the Teacher Appreciation Week activities, on May 18 at 7:30 p.m., the Education Celebration episode of Carolina Classrooms will air on SCETV. Host Laura Ybarra will introduce viewers to educators and non-instructional staff doing great things in their schools and communities. The outgoing South Carolina Teacher of the Year Deion Jamison will share reflections on his tenure. This episode will air again on the SC Channel on May 18 at 9 p.m. and on ETV World on May 22 at 10 a.m.

Educators, thank you for all that you do!
