South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) has partnered with the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (CHE) and other community partners to host the annual South Carolina College and Career Decision Day rally on May 7 in downtown Columbia.
Beginning with a march down Main Street and ending with a celebration event on the State House steps, more than 2,300 high-school students from more than 41 high schools across the state are scheduled to participate.
Mirrored after National Signing Day and organized by the CHE, this event recognizes and applauds students who are taking charge of their futures by committing to college or university enrollment, beginning a vocational or training program, joining the military or entering the workforce.
College and university representatives from across the state and representatives from the business community, state government and local celebrities will attend to support the students. There will also be games, entertainment, college and career resources, food trucks and other activities.
The CHE created College and Career Decision Day to celebrate South Carolina high school graduates for taking the next step toward their futures. Anyone who is interested in the celebration, but unable to attend can watch the livestream on the SCETV website.
