SC College and Career Decision Day

Live event will begin:

South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) has partnered with the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (CHE) and other community partners to host the second-annual South Carolina College and Career Decision Day rally on May 2 in downtown Columbia.

SC College and Career Decision Day is an opportunity for more than 1,500 high-school seniors from more than 30 high schools across the state to gather in celebration of their achievements. Organized by the CHE, this event recognizes and applauds students who are taking charge of their futures by committing to college or university enrollment, beginning a vocational or training program, joining the military or entering the workforce.  

The event will begin with a march down Main Street, ending with a celebration event on the State House steps with the support of various colleges and universities represented from across the state, representatives from the business community, state government and local celebrities. There will also be games, entertainment, college and career resources, food trucks and other activities.

South Carolina College and Career Decision Day 2023 Schedule

10:00 AM: Seniors travel from Hampton / Main Street intersection to Statehouse Grounds

10:30 AM: Rally begins with emcees Whitney Sullivan, WLTX Columbia and Mikel Hannah-Harding, WRDW/WAGT Augusta. 

10:45 AM: Keynote speakers recognize the Class of 2023 

  • Governor Henry McMaster
  • Ellen Weaver, Superintendent, South Carolina Department of Education 
  • Dr. Rusty Monhollon, President and Executive Director, CHE 

11:15 – 12:30 PM: College reps rally, senior class recognitions, visitation with colleges and employers (food trucks will also be on-site).
