In this episode of Curiosity Trek!, The Georgetown County Museum is proud to showcase an impressive piece of Revolutionary War history- A handwritten letter from Francis Marion, also known as “The Swamp Fox”, himself! The letter, dated 1782, is a response to a command from Marion's superior officer, General Nathanael Greene. This letter is rare since few documents directly tied to Francis Marion are known to exist.
The Georgetown County Museum’s own Paige Sawyer sits down with Host Andrew Davis to discuss Francis Marion’s significance in the Palmetto State and how this incredible artifact has been so well preserved!
Curiosity Trek! tells the stories of historic people and events through the artifacts left behind. The series highlights more than just objects of significant historical value but also the strange and the bizarre! The people tied to these objects may be gone, but their stories live on through these artifacts.
