A Horse Named Hope

HOPE Acres Rescue is a non-profit organization located in Berkeley County, South Carolina. Their mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused horses and educate the public on how to better care for these large animals. Tracey Sawyer, the founder, said prior to creating a horse rescue, she had no experience with horses. Despite this, she felt that God was leading her towards creating a safe haven for these large animals that otherwise in many cases would be left to die. Through much effort and hard work, Tracey and her team of volunteers have created this rescue, and have successfully rehomed many horses to responsible owners.  A medicine hat paint was one of their rescues several years ago. Now this horse has been renamed Hope and is the riding companion for Alethia, one of the youngest members of the Johnson family. She enjoys riding Hope but also uses horseback riding as therapy for her condition.
