Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra

The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra aims to be the premier destination for all things musical in the Lowcountry. Their upcoming season features a diverse range of performances, including symphonic classical and pop concerts, jazz, cabarets, Gullah Geechee culture, piano, chamber music and more.

Renowned for its exceptional performance and passion for music, the orchestra’s dedication to musical excellence and community engagement has solidified its reputation as a cultural cornerstone on Hilton Head Island, Bluffton and beyond, taking pride in offering music for everyone!

“Symphony Under the Stars,” featuring outdoor pops concerts, is set for Thursday, Oct. 17, in Bluffton and Friday, Oct. 18, in Hilton Head. The orchestra’s 43rd season of “The Orchestra Series” will commence with performances on Sunday, October 20, and Monday, October 21.

President and CEO Alan Jordan says after he and his wife relocated to the Lowcountry five years ago, the region’s natural beauty and welcoming community proved to be major draws. Like his family, many residents have made this area their permanent home and are enthusiastic supporters of the local arts and culture scene.

For Jordan, NPR programs such as Morning Edition and BBC News Hour are favorites during the morning commute, while All Things Considered and Marketplace are preferred for the drive home. For late-night listening, Fresh Air is a top choice, and Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me is a weekend staple.

Symphony followers often overlap with public media audiences, and partnerships with local public radio stations have been sought throughout Jordan’s career. There is confidence that current and future audiences will continue to discover the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra through South Carolina Public Radio.
