Coastal Community Foundation

Coastal Community Foundation (CCF) is the largest grantmaker in South Carolina, dedicated to creating vibrant communities full of opportunity, well-being and promise. The Foundation brings donors, community members, families and businesses together to raise and invest funds to support a broad range of local, charitable causes and help improve people’s lives across nine coastal counties.

Rooted in coastal South Carolina since its inception in 1974, CCF possesses a deep understanding of the communities it serves. By providing funding in the form of grants, loans and scholarships, the foundation has been able to address critical local issues including education and healthcare disparities, protecting the coast and its precious resources, and honoring the unique history and culture of the region, helping to create meaningful, lasting change.

In its 50 years as a trusted philanthropic leader, CCF has helped provide more than $425 million in grants to 5,800 nonprofits, award more than $8 million in college scholarships to Lowcountry students and, more recently, the Foundation has partnered to build more than 200 new affordable housing units through its Place-Based Impact Investing initiative.

CCF is proud to partner with SC Public Radio and its talented and dedicated professionals bringing current events, history and the culture of the region to light. By uplifting voices, sharing experiences, devoting time and attention to the major issues affecting coastal South Carolina, both organizations work together to create a stronger, more connected and informed community.

According to Darrin Goss Sr., Coastal Community Foundation President and CEO, “By supporting SC Public Radio, we can help more people understand the challenges our region is facing. Whether it’s a lack of affordable housing, gaps in classrooms due to high turnover rates in teaching, or coastal flooding as a result of climate change, sharing information means we can be better equipped to overcome these challenges so that our region can be enjoyed by all.”
