SC Public Radio updates weekend lineup

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Public Radio (SC Public Radio) today announced plans to update its weekend lineup. On Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26, the statewide radio network will broadcast the final episode of Ask Me Another, which was cancelled by National Public Radio (NPR) earlier this year. To fill the void left by these departures, SC Public Radio is updating its lineup by adding two new programs – A Way with Words and Throughline – and moving Live Wire to a new timeslot.

A Way with Words is an upbeat program about language examined through history, culture and family. Each week, author and journalist Martha Barnette and lexicographer Grant Barrett talks with callers about slang, old sayings, new words, grammar, word origins, regional dialects, family expressions and speaking and writing well. They settle disputes, play word quizzes and discuss language news and controversies. Premiering on SC Public Radio October 2, A Way with Words will air Saturdays at noon following Live Wire, which will air from 11 a.m. to noon, on all stations across South Carolina’s public media network.

Hosted by Rund Abdelfatah and Ramtin Arablouei, Throughline tackles the history behind today’s headlines and takes listeners back in time to better understand the present. Each week, Abdelfatah and Arablouei bring their fresh perspectives to new topics and explore the historical underpinnings of our tumultuous current events landscape. Throughline will air Sundays at 1 p.m. on all SC Public Radio stations, starting October 3.

Now in its 49th year of broadcasting, SC Public Radio reaches more than 300,000 listeners each week. With eight transmitters located across the state, the network offers two formats – News/Talk and News/Music.
