South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is proud to announce its contributions to season 3 of Ziggy’s Arts Adventure, the digital series produced by Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB). The new season, now streaming on YouTube, features guest artists and arts segments from across the South— including a spotlight on South Carolina’s vibrant creative community.

Season 3 features guest artists and work from across South Carolina as well as Louisiana and Tennessee. The 10-episode season introduces young viewers to the elements of art— such as color, mood and plot— through interactive adventures with professional painters, musicians, screenwriters and more.

SCETV partnered with LPB to amplify South Carolina voices and contribute several South Carolina-based segments to the new season, including an arts adventure spotlight at the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, a feature on Columbia’s high-energy jump rope troupe, The Double Dutch Forces!, and an artist feature highlighting acclaimed South Carolina visual artist Cedric Umoja, who traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to share his work in the episode “Line.”

Ziggy’s Arts Adventure is a live-action educational series that uses music, puppetry and storytelling to teach core arts concepts. Produced by LPB and created for children ages 7 to 12, the series is shot on location in Baton Rouge, with partner stations like SCETV contributing local segments that showcase artistic voices from their regions. New episodes are released weekly and are available to stream online.

The show follows Ziggy, a 9-year-old alien from a planet where everyone has an “emoticle”— a glowing antenna that lets them understand each other’s feelings. Ziggy’s emoticle doesn’t quite work like the others, leaving him feeling different and disconnected. That changes when a spacecraft from Earth crash-lands on his planet and plays music. For the first time, Ziggy’s emoticle lights up and music helps him feel understood. Inspired by this discovery, Ziggy travels to Earth in search of more art and artists, learning how creativity connects people in powerful ways.

Previous seasons of Ziggy’s Arts Adventure are also available to stream on pbs.org and the free PBS App, available on iPhone, Apple TV, Android TV, Android smartphones, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire Tablet, Roku, Samsung Smart TV and Vizio.
