Why Support South Carolina Public Radio?

South Carolina Public Radio has universal reach and extraordinary efficiency, of our eight transmitters, five are 100,000 watts. Reception extends far into North Carolina and Georgia, and completely blankets South Carolina—including all interstate highway corridors. Listeners may travel from outside our border through the state and into the next, still following the programs on our network. All communities in South Carolina hear one or more of our stations.

From network headquarters in Columbia, SC Public Radio provides 24-hour service of two distinct formats, news and classical music. Public radio's programming is unique, with blends of diverse genres of music and cultural programming, and news and public affairs. There is no other medium that is as uncluttered with announcements and as sure of the listener's full attention as SC Public Radio.

Independent audience research shows that public broadcasting sponsors are held in high regard as benefactors of valued programs. 28% of listeners say they purchase products from a company because it supports public radio.

Since 1972, the system has grown to serve 283,000 listeners a week with NPR news, classical music, jazz, and variety programs—the best of public radio. Favorites are Car Talk, A Prairie Home Companion, Performance Today, Radio Reader, Morning Edition and many others.
