The Calhoun County Museum and Cultural Center is a 20,000 square foot facility full of archives, memoribillia and the personal histories of the people of Calhoun County. Admission to the museum is free.

The Branchville Railroad Shrine and Museum is the site of the world's first railroad junction. The museum features lots of antiques that were once used by the railway, such as a velocipede, old lanterns, maps and telegraph machinery.

Located between Summerville and Walterboro, Bee City is a honeybee farm and petting zoo. Bee City's focus is to educate the public on the imprtance of honeybees. The petting zoo is a main attraction with animals from monkeys and lemurs to wallabies and llamas.

Mepkin Abbey is a Trappist Monastery located on the Cooper River in Berkeley County. It's a community of Roman Catholic monks established in 1949. The monks at Mepkin Abbey devote their lives to prayer, spiritual study, work and hospitality.

The Santee Cooper Lakes in Berkeley County have not been hunted for the American Alligator for many years. As a result the lakes in Berkeley County have some of the largest alligators in the United States.
