Dr. Anne Austin Young, one of South Carolina's first female physicians, pioneered women's healthcare from 1915 to 1978. 

She worked as a surgeon, obstetrician-gynecologist and psychiatrist. After finishing medical school at the top of her class, she passed the state medical exam with the highest score ever. She delivered over 10,000 babies while practicing in Anderson, SC.
