The 2021 Telehealth Program of Excellence Award was presented to the Project ECHO Opioid Use Disorder program and the Southeast Viral Interactive Case Conference during the 9th Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina held virtually in November.
Project ECHO, a learning model that connects academic hubs with providers in local communities, helps healthcare providers learn to treat patients with opioid use disorders and prescribe life-saving medications for those disorders.
The Southeast Viral Interactive Case Conference provides teleconsultation for healthcare providers who are treating patients with infectious diseases including HIV or Hepatitis C. Because of the virtual case conferences, patients are able to receive treatment in their own community instead of traveling to a distant location for specialized care.
