With over 28 years of experience, Brown will lead the agency’s information technology efforts
South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) has promoted Harvey Brown to Director of Information Technology (IT). In this role, Brown will direct, coordinate and administer SCETV’s IT Department to ensure the smooth operation of computer systems for the broadcast network and agency systems.
Brown has over 28 years of experience in IT and software engineering. He has managed multiple areas of IT Services in his career, including infrastructure, application security, application support, application development and configuration management.
Initially a software developer, Harvey transitioned into management 16 years ago, managing software engineering at the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). At DHHS, Brown managed web, database, infrastructure, and network services, as well as application support.
Joining the SCETV team in 2020, Brown has served as the Manager for Enterprise Systems within the IT Department. The IT Department provides technical support and assures the integrity and availability of information stored on agency computers.
In his new position, Brown will lead the effort to enhance SCETV’s evolving IT infrastructure and applications to provide systems that enable change, growth, and flexibility.
“My goal is always to find a way to support people and their needs, whether that be through IT or another solution. The main goal of IT is to build tools that people can use to do their jobs more efficiently, and the best way to build those tools is to find out what they do and how these tools can be integrated into their daily tasks. I’m excited to work closer with the various teams that we have here at SCETV.” –Director of IT Harvey Brown
“I’m excited to have Harvey promoted to this new role within the agency. He has shown tremendous support for our IT efforts over his time here at SCETV and I look forward to his leadership in furthering our efforts to enhance our technologies.” –Vice President of Engineering and Technology Mark Jahnke
