April offers a lot to celebrate, but one of our favorites at SCETV is The Week of the Young Child!
The Week of the Young Child, developed by The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is an annual celebration in honor of young children to help shape their learning and development. This year, it will be celebrated April 2-8, and SCETV will have many resources for your early learners that align with each daily theme. Please check www.scetv.org/kids for The Week of the Young Child resources.
Not only do we have resources for The Week of the Young Child, but we are also going to be celebrating early learning as well as family engagement at the Greenwood Community Wellness Day, which will be held on April 9, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at The Boys and Girls Club of the Lakelands. The event will include STEM-related activities from SCETV, a special visit from our original character, Smart Cat, SCETV giveaways, opportunities for health screenings, family games, inflatables, and more! The Greenwood Community Wellness event is free to the public and we are encouraging you to join us and the many statewide partners for this day of family fun, celebrating learners of all ages! We hope to see you there!
Also, PBS LearningMedia has some fresh, new resources, including videos, activities, and lesson plans that will help children learn about spring and more specifically, gardening. The link to the collection, titled “Changing Seasons”, can be found here: Spring | Changing Seasons | PBS LearningMedia.
