SC Lede: Big Ol' Budget Debate, Baybee

It was a long debate in the House this week over its $14 billion budget, which got bogged down over concerns involving diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at public colleges and universities in the state. House Speaker Murrell Smith had to oversee, at times, contentious debate that got personal at times on March 13, 2023. The budget was sent to the Senate on Wednesday which will craft its own version that it will return to the House.
