South Carolina gets several rounds of rain this week and a holiday weekend cold blast

Two storm systems will bring some wet weather to South Carolina this week and bitterly chilly temperatures this weekend.

The first weather system brings scattered to widespread rain tomorrow through early Wednesday. No severe weather is expected for anyone and a light winter mix with low travel impacts is possible for the Upstate and Midlands Tuesday night.

The second system arrives as a cold front Thursday into early Friday with more rain likely. Again, a light winter mix with no travel issues is possible for the Upstate and Midlands. Behind that strong front, a widespread hard freeze is forecasted Friday night into Saturday morning and on Christmas morning too.

Expect low temps in the teens and 20s and highs only in the 30s this holiday weekend with dangerous wind chills in the single digits at times. Coastal areas will have lows in the 20s and highs in the 30s to around 40.

Please factor this big chill into your holiday plans and don't forget to take care of your pets, plants, and pipes.
