The 2022 Telehealth Trailblazer award was presented to Donna Avant, RPh, CDCES, during the 10th Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina held in November at the Charleston Gaillard Center.
Avant, a pharmacist and the owner of Ehrhardt Pharmacy in Ehrhardt, S.C., was the first to establish a telehealth site in her area. Using a private room inside of the pharmacy, patients can connect with their doctors located in nearby towns or in other areas of the state such as the Medical University of South Carolina located more than 90 miles away. She’s known for being compassionate for others and dedicated to her community.
“Donna’s always willing to step out and do things that other people aren’t doing,'' said Dannette McAlhaney, M.D. “She is a trailblazer, she looks for the future, she looks for where there is need and she wants to go there.”
