South Carolina ETV nominated for two Emmy awards

45th Annual Southeast Emmy Awards

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast chapter on Sunday announced nominations for the 45th Annual Southeast Emmy Awards. South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV) was nominated for two awards, including Best Health/Science – Program Feature/Segment for “S.C. Impacting Global Health” and Best Historical/Cultural – Program for “Charlie’s Place.”

“We’re proud to receive recognition for the work we do to enrich the lives of South Carolinians,” said SCETV President and CEO Anthony Padgett. “This agency is home to an exceptional staff, and I’m glad to see that their level of excellence is being recognized beyond our walls.”  

Nominated for Best Health/Science – Program/Feature, “S.C. Impacting Global Health” takes a look at South Carolina’s ongoing telehealth efforts and the impact those efforts are having in Uganda and other third world countries. The story is part of a series of telehealth stories made possible by the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance, of which SCETV is a founding member.

Charlie’s Place” was nominated for Best Historical/Cultural – Program. Part of SCETV’s “Carolina Stories” series, “Charlie’s Place” tells the story of an African American nightclub in Myrtle Beach that served as a significant stop on the Chitlin’ Circuit in the segregated South.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place June 15 at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead, Ga.
