SCETV Recognized, in Partnership with SCTA, with National Healthcare Award
What is Telehealth? Telehealth is the use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long-distance clinical healthcare, patient and professional health-related education, public health and health administration.
The 2019 American Telemedicine Association President’s Award for the Transformation of Healthcare Delivery Award recognizes the leadership of an organization that incorporates virtual healthcare services as part of an initiative resulting in improved healthcare quality and value for a large population of patients. The 2019 winner is South Carolina Telehealth Alliance (SCTA), a statewide collaboration of organizations that have joined forces to expand telehealth services across the state, giving all South Carolina residents access to quality healthcare, while effectively managing the cost of providing care.
South Carolina ETV is a part of this statewide collaboration, of which SCETV has been a member since its inception. One of SCETV’s initiatives through the partnership is a series called My Telehealth. Through the human stories of patients, families, clinicians and others, SCETV, in collaboration with the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance, dissects the complexities of Telehealth.
The goal of each story is to elevate public understanding and knowledge of Telehealth and its diverse services in South Carolina. The clinical opportunities within Telehealth provide many positive impacts that include better health outcomes, more immediate treatments, economic benefits and access to specialized care and consultation.
