Dear Viewers and Listeners: Happy holidays! This December brings entertaining and enjoyable programming, part of our Festival schedule as well as our seasonal offerings...
President's Corner Monthly Newsletter, February 2016
Dear Viewers and Listeners:
This month we are excited to present the three episodes of Antiques Roadshow that were taped last summer in Charleston, S.C. So many fascinating items were appraised; several had amazing values placed on them. Be sure to tune in to see the unique objects that were highlighted.
February is Black History Month and our programming celebrates the achievements of a variety of African Americans. Musical programs highlight B.B. King, Ray Charles, and Fats Domino; other specials focus on Misty Copeland, the first African-American female to be a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, and the Black Panther Party of the 1960s. One of our Reel South offerings tells the story of the Friendship Nine, who staged a sit-in at a lunch counter in Rock Hill, S.C., in 1961. Our annual Black History Teleconference again features prominent African Americans discussing their careers. Check through our listings to find these and other inspiring programs.
S.C. Public Radio is holding a “No Pledge Drive” pledge drive throughout the month of February. We are simply asking listeners to support Public Radio with a pledge any time in February. When the goal is met by February 28, there will be no on-air fundraising this spring. Pledge online now at southcarolinapublicradio.org; you can also track our progress toward a “pledge-free” spring!
As always, we value your input and thank you for your support.
