Gov. Henry McMaster's Swearing-In Ceremony

Henry McMaster was sworn-in as the 117th Governor of South Carolina in a ceremony held at the State House on Tuesday.

McMaster replaced Gov. Nikki Haley after the U.S. Senate confirmed her, 96-4, to be President Donald Trump's Ambassador to the United Nations moments earlier.

McMaster has served as Haley's Lieutenant Governor in her second and final term since 2014.

"The place we call our home is unique and so are we. God has let his light shine upon us brightly and we are thankful," McMaster said. "So as I assume these new responsibilities, I am humbled, honored and deeply appreciative of being granted one of the rarest opportunities to serve the people of my state, my home and that of my forefathers, South Carolina."
