Clemson Football Team Honored at The White House

President Donald Trump honored the 2016 NCAA Football National Championship-winning Clemson football team at the White House on Monday.

The Clemson Tigers defeated the Alabam Crimson Tide 35-31 in January to win the national title that eluded them the year before. Trump, standing in front of the team and supporters gathered on the South Portico of the White House, called the win a title "for the ages."

Trump told receiver Hunter Renfrow, "You’re so lucky you caught that ball,” referring to the game-winning pass he caught with one second left. Trump also shook hands with quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Clemson University President Jim Clements and coach Dabo Swinney also gave remarks before posing for photos. The group was joined earlier by Trump supporter Gov. Henry McMaster, members of the South Carolina congressional delegation and several state lawmakers.
