Former Gamecock heading to the Big Leagues

College softball is exploding – becoming one of the few sports along with football and men’s basketball – that generates revenue.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, college softball teams reported $450 million in revenue in 2016-17 (the last year data has been reported).

Here in South Carolina, colleges and universities across the state have long boasted competitive programs, and with Clemson embarking on its inaugural season in spring 2020 – the choices – and competition – for premier female ballplayers has never been hotter.

No one understands this better than Gamecock softball great, Tina Plew Whitlock.
