Interns with the Making it Grow team

Week 8 of my SCETV internship was busy and productive.  I started off this week by interviewing my second student for the first-generation college student piece I’m still pursuing. For this interview, I got a chance to sit down with one of my Winthrop classmates, Kalea Young-Gibson, and discuss her college life. The interview went well and I believe the story is beginning to tell itself. I just have to do one more interview and I’ll be able to complete this video project soon.

One of the biggest highlights of my week was driving down to the ETV station in Sumter. There, I was able to meet some other interns again, and together we watched the live broadcast of Making it Grow. I loved exploring the set of the show because it was designed to feel like a home. During the broadcast, I sat in the control room and watched the process that goes on behind the scenes.  Surprisingly, the control room was calm, even though there was a lot of talking going on all at once.

Later on during the week, I got back to work on the farmers market video project. When I finished editing the video, I was really happy with the results. On top of that, I was notified that the farmers market piece is set to air on Palmetto Scene in the future. One of the goals I had at the beginning of this internship was to have some of my work on Palmetto Scene, so, of course, it was great to hear this news.

As I approach the last few weeks of my summer internship, I hope to keep this momentum up. I’m thankful for all of the support that I’ve received throughout this entire internship. There are so many tips and tricks that I’ve learned to help improve my skills all around. I’m extremely happy for this learning experience because it’s helping me reach my goals and set new ones.
