Leveling Up: Training Facility Offers Exposure for Student Athletes

According to Ashleigh Edwards and Krystal Barclay, leadership has no ceilings. They both own and operate Iconic Sport Performance (ISP). ISP is a woman-owned, minority owned, veteran owned performance training facility located in Columbia, South Carolina. For Edwards and Barclay, the goal for ISP is to shift the culture of health, wellness, and sports for the people in the Midlands.

One way they are living this goal is by giving back to the community in a very unique way. This summer ISP hosted a Team Exposure Camp

“Being from South Carolina, we have seen first-hand the talent that is buried within South Carolina’s borders that scouts typically don’t hear about unless they’ve competed within challenging AAU Circuits,” says Edwards. The camp gives high school athletes a chance to showcase their skillsets in front of college recruiters, giving them the opportunity to gather the knowledge necessary to take their talents to the next level.

Edwards and Barclay agree, exposure to camps has the potential to catapult student athletes professionally. By getting them in front of recruiters, “We are potentially affording them the opportunity to gain access to collegiate scholarships they previously may have missed, due to a lack of exposure.”
