Not all students fit easily into today’s standard school model, which can present challenges to those with specific educational needs or demanding extracurricular schedules.  However, students at the 100 Yards Football Academy will now have the opportunity to attend South Carolina Whitmore School, a free virtual charter school that students can attend from 9th to 12th grade.

100 Yards Football Academy is modeled after 22ft Basketball Academy, which is based in Greenville, South Carolina.  100 Yards will be the football division of 22ft and will also be based in Greenville.  The new football academy’s goals will be to “produce well-rounded, well-educated and future talent that is driven by desire and conviction in football as their chosen sport.”

22ft CEO Mike Rawson announced at a press conference yesterday in Greenville that SCWS would be the educational partner of 100 Yards Football Academy.  Rawson also announced that that former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd would serve as a partner and mentor to students at 100 Yards.

SCWS was created in 2011.  It was a part of the South Carolina Public Charter School District.  The goal of the school was to help to provide students like those at 100 Yards Football Academy with an education tailored to fit their demanding athletic schedules.  The school serves more than 400 students across South Carolina.

"S.C. Whitmore is a perfect fit for 100 Yards Academy because our school has the ability to provide a free, high-quality education to students with nontraditional schedules and unique life circumstances," said S.C. Whitmore Principal John Loveday. "Virtual schools like SCWS give students the flexibility to take their classes at night, on the weekends, or whenever it fits their schedule best. Due to 100 Yards Academy's extensive travel schedule, S.C. Whitmore will allow them to still attend all of their classes, even when they are competing in games across the country. We are extremely excited about this new partnership and grateful for the opportunity we've been given by 100 Yards Academy."
