Balanced Action | YOGA MINUTES

Pause for a moment to feel the beat of your heart. The in and out of your breath. Everything in our world is in relationship with another complementary force. Think of up and down, back and front, night and day. One helps us to know the other more fully. So within a yoga pose, we seekto balance the actions of contraction and expansion. A contracting force draws inwardcreating stability and strength. It also provides a boundary to open out against. As we expand outward againstcontraction, we can feel more balanced. So let's try it. Lift your arm and tone your muscles. Now hold the strength of these muscles and then slowly lengthen your arm back out and noticed that you can do both together. This integration is what you need to practice throughout all yoga postures.

Yoga in Practice, led by master instructor Stacey Millner-Collins, is designed to teach the foundations of yoga to the at-home student, and to encourage a daily yoga practice that is more than simply physical exercise. To purchase DVD episodes of Yoga in Practice, visit ShopSCETV.
