Family Learns Best Health Habits Via Telenutrition

Specialist doctors are scarce in parts of rural South Carolina. For kids in need of a specialist appointment, it can be even more difficult.

That’s the dilemma Krissee Day discovered when her son’s doctor recommended nutrition counseling. In their hometown of Pawleys Island, Krissee said it would take months for them to get 9-year-old Smith in to see a dietitian. But through a telehealth program with the Medical University of South Carolina, they were able to come back to the pediatrician’s office and meet with a dietitian through a video consult.

The Day family says their appointments have encouraged lifestyle changes that have led to healthy habits.
