Pete Hill talks about his career as and international championship drag racer. Check out the full video on Palmetto Scene.

World famous drag racer Pete Hill, a "legend on two wheels."

My eighth week at ETV went by in a blur. The days this week seemed to just run together, because there really wasn’t anything special going on. Plus, it has been kind of quiet for me, with both Ty and Andrew out of the office. I have been working mostly on the VR tour of the Upcountry History Museum for Let’s Go!. I also did a little bit of planning for the August South Carolina African American History video about Henry Minton. This included the usual research and sending emails.

The VR for the Upcountry History Museum has been a much slower process than the Fort Hill tour, because they are both completely different spaces. I also have been trying something different with this tour because now Matterport – the program we use at SCETV to build these virtual reality tours – allows users to embed videos into the spaces. This has required me to make several shorter videos, rather than one long video like I did for Fort Hill.

These videos weren’t too difficult for me to make, but they still took me a total of a day and a half, and I still have one I am working on. However, I think it adds a little something more to the VR tour, because rather than just seeing and reading, viewers can actually watch and listen to a museum volunteer, as if they are actually there. I chose not to use any music in the videos, because I felt like the background sounds in the interview are important in making the VR tour more realistic and immersive. The tour of the lower level space is not complete yet, but the upper level is. You can still see the progress I have made on both here.

The most exciting thing that happened this week was my Pete Hill video finally getting published on Palmetto Scene. I even wrote a blog post for it to. I am so happy to finally be able to share the video with everyone because I am really proud of it and worked really hard on it. So, y’all should definitely check it out. It is a little on the longer side, but I promise you will enjoy it.

Also this week, I found out that the Intern Luncheon is on Monday (as in, next week). I am super nervous about it because I have to give a two-minute presentation about everything I have been working on this summer. I hate this for two reasons: 1) I could probably speak for an hour about all of the truly wonderful things I have learned and experienced this summer, and 2) I really do not like public speaking, especially when it means talking/bragging about myself. I have no idea how I am going to fit eight weeks into two minutes, but I am sure I will manage.
