South Carolina ETV (SCETV) partnered with the South Carolina Council on the Holocaust to present the statewide commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz.

This special commemoration took place on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the University of South Carolina Alumni Center in Columbia. This event was open to the public.

SCETV live streamed this event so that every student and teacher in South Carolina could participate in the 75th commemoration.

Elisha Wiesel, son of Holocaust survivor and Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, served as the keynote speaker. This event also included remarks by Holocaust survivors, members of the armed forces and elected officials, as well as a special musical performance by the Clover High School Chorus.

“Part of our mission at SCETV is to bring information and culture to people across the state who may not be able to access it otherwise,” said SCETV President and CEO Anthony Padgett. “I’m proud that our team is collaborating with the S.C. Department of Education and the S.C. Council on the Holocaust to bring this important commemoration to classrooms in all corners of South Carolina.”
