EOC Reports: A Solution to School Make-up Days?

On February 11, the Education Oversight Committee (EOC) received a report on the five pilot school districts participating in the first eLearning Pilot Initiative. These districts eliminated make-up days from their school calendars, opting instead to operate eLearning days where students receive instruction virtually.

Modeled after policies in North Carolina, Georgia, and other states, five school districts set a number of virtual learning days to use when schools closed for weather, allowing them the flexibility to continue teaching and learning even when Mother Nature has other plans.

The recommendation the committee received was to continue with a second pilot year; a final determination will be made by the SC General Assembly. For questions or additional information, contact Dr. Lee D'Andrea.
