Now Available on Knowitall.org - History In A Nutshell – The Space Race

The next installment of our series “History In A Nutshell” is a two-part episode about the Space Race of the 1960’s! Part One briefly discusses the Cold War, and the early days of the Space Race, with test pilots, Sputnik, and getting a man into space, with Project Mercury. Part Two focuses on Gemini, and the Apollo Program. Project Gemini is the not widely known bridge between Mercury and Apollo, and were it not for Gemini, America never would have made it to the moon. Apollo had a rocky start with the tragic loss of the Apollo 1 crew, but after applying the lessons learned with Apollo 1, America was able to brush the dust off, and win the space race.
