In 2014, the General Assembly passed Act 289, the Military Family Quality of Life Enhancement Act. The Act’s purpose is to “enhance many quality of life issues for members of the armed forces.” Part of the law requests the SC Education Oversight Committee (EOC) to develop an annual report on the educational performance of military connected children. The 2018 report, which was approved by the EOC in June 2018, provides:

  • An overview of the federal Impact Aid program;
  • Details regarding the demographics of military-connected students;
  • An update on the academic performance and school attendance of military-connected students in school year 2016-17; and
  • A summary of the trainings for educators and families to enhance support of military-connected students at home and in school.

A copy of the full report can be found online at https://tinyurl.com/ycd2upbe.
