Youth Leadership Academy Facilitators Needed
For the ninth year the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the Jefferson Awards Foundation and Leadership Grand Strand, will be holding the annual Youth Leadership Academy on March 7 from 8:30 am-2 pm at Coastal Carolina University. Students will participate in hands on activities to help them build their leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
Each school sends up to 15 high school students from 9th-12th grade to participate in the event, so our need for facilitators has never been greater. This year’s event will feature all new breakout sessions and we are expecting almost 500 students!
YLA 2016 will focus on the theme of uniting as leaders in our homes, schools, and communities. We are confident that this year’s #LeadersUnite theme will impact each and every student who attends.
To participate in Youth Leadership Academy as a facilitator you are required to attend one training session prior to the event. These training sessions will be held on Monday, February 29th and Tuesday, March 1st from 6-8 p.m. Both sessions will be held at Coastal Carolina University and participating groups will meet outside in front of the Wheelwright Auditorium. Facilitators will also be required to attend the event from 8:30 am-2 pm on March 7th and will be subject to background checks as we will be working closely with high school students.
