Teacher Appreciation Day is May 3 … Thank a Teacher!
State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman reminds us that May 3 is National Teacher Appreciation Day. View her thank-you message.
May 2-6 is Teacher Appreciation Week, devoted to acknowledging the importance of teachers. In the United States, Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated during the first full week of May and Teacher Appreciation Day is the Tuesday that falls during Teacher Appreciation Week so this year it is celebrated on May 3!
The National Education Association (NEA) describes Teacher Appreciation Day as “a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives. As a nation, we all know that teachers play an inspiring role in educating our children, who are the future leaders of our country. Kind, patient, hard-working, dedicated and understanding, a teacher often has a profound effect on a young person’s life … They deserve to be loved and appreciated all the year through, and especially on May 3.”
So … on May 3 or during this Teacher Appreciation Week … THANK a teacher!
