Carolina Classrooms is ETV’s monthly educational series for teachers, parents and all citizens invested in the education of our children. Hosted by Dawn Samples, this edition of the series will feature our SC Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman, Barbara Turner, Education Associate in the Office of School Transformation, and representatives from programs that provide exciting options for students, including Bradley Mitchell, the Director of the Office of Virtual Education for the SC Department of Education, and Trixi DeRosa-Davis, the Virtual SC 2016 Teacher of the Year.
Executive Director Keith Bailey takes us on a tour of the Pee Dee Math, Science and Technology Academy and explains how this charter school in Bishopville is preparing students for the future.
Our ETV cameras will visit the Academy for Civic Engagement at Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary School to learn about their magnet program. Lead Teacher Dawn Smith, Principal Karen Beaman and third grade teacher Tara Simmons will tell us how they engage kindergarten through 5th grade students to teach them about government, civics and financial responsibility.
