"Reconnecting Roots" and host Gabe McCauley continue the journey into American history with an all new set of topics and even more important roots to uncover.  Taking a look at some of our nation’s most defining successes as well as some of our not-so-proud moments; Season 2 continues to engage a new generation while seeking to learn about the past and encouraging us all to make a better future.

Gabe visits Jack White's Third Man Pressing to find out if the vinyl resurgence is just a fad, or if it's here to stay. 

RR202: Religion: Church in States (April 16, 2020)

What does religious freedom mean to America today? Gabe travels to Flushing, New York - the birthplace of spiritual liberty in America - to find out.

RR203: Irish Immigrants: Emerald Isle to Ellis Island  (April 23, 2020)

Taking the immigration story back overseas on a visit to Ireland, Gabe answers the question of why so many Irish people came to America. This helps us to better understand the DNA behind our diverse nation, while examining true immigrant success stories.

RR204: Travel: Migration to Mobility  (April 30, 2020)

From migration to mobility, the reason we travel has changed alongside technology. Looking to the future, Gabe visits a cutting edge Hyperloop company in California to see first hand how Americans hope to get around in the years to come.

RR205: Hunting: Field to Fork  (May 7, 2020)

To continue the “Farm to Table” conversation from Season 1, we examine “Field to Fork” - a program training a new generation of “hipster hunters” to source meat directly and locally. Netflix’s “MeatEaters” hosts Steven Rinella and Ryan Callaghan also offer insight into the complicated history of hunting in America while discussing how hunting is still relevant today.

RR206: Native Americans: An Uncommon History  (May 14, 2020)

America has a difficult history when it comes to the narrative of Native Americans. To better understand how a sovereign nation functions as a part of "We The People," Gabe visits the Navajo Nation and gains first-hand insight into their story from a president and a presidential hopeful.

RR207: Trains: Tracking Progress  (May 21, 2020)

In the Season 2 finale, we ride the rails of history at the 150th Golden Spike anniversary. Gabe talks with descendants of Chinese railroad workers about their forgotten contributions to the Transcontinental Railroad, all while seeking to understand how the centuries-old technology keeps this country running today.

About the Host

Gabe McCauley is an actor and film director as well as the founder of the production company, lilDRAGON. He has directed over four seasons of the television series The Joey+Rory Show, hundreds of commercials, music videos, and the feature film, Heaven Bound. Gabe lives in Columbia, TN with his wife Mandy, the music supervisor of Reconnecting Roots, and two children - Scout and Ash. As the host of Reconnecting Roots, Gabe combines his own comedic personality with his passion for telling stories with purpose. Gabe strives to use media to shape the culture for tomorrow.
