Join Reel South and our seven Southern PBS station partners this October for the second-iteration of Reel South | Reel Digital – a free, virtual, day-long lab and networking program designed to introduce emerging content creators to public media's digital landscape and their local stations. Attendees from our station partner states of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Texas will be given priority but Southern producers from elsewhere are welcome to apply. Deadline to apply is Friday, September 4, 2020.

Reel South | Reel Digital kicks off on Thursday, October 1, 2020 with an Opening Night Key Note and Virtual Reception. BYO everything: drinks, food, pets, etc! On the next morning, October 2, 2020, we will begin our day-long program of panels, breakout groups, and networking events – all via the Zoom platform.

About the Lab

Reel South | Reel Digital is a day-long, innovative digital video lab aiming to connect independent, emerging content creators based in the South with local public media stations. Following a promotion, application, and selection process, up to 70 regional filmmakers/producers will be invited to attend the the lab which will feature an overview of public media’s robust digital content, panels on digital video best practices and creative approaches, and networking opportunities with filmmaking organizations, festivals, and public media series and distributors. The lab will conclude with the announcement of a new digital content initiative which will include distribution with Reel South and local stations. Reel South | Reel Digital is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Reel South is produced collaboratively by seven Southern PBS-member networks: UNC-TV Public Media North Carolina, South Carolina ETV, Alabama Public Television, Arkansas PBS, Louisiana Public Broadcasting, Texas Tech Public Media, and Virginia Public Media.
