South Carolina ETV to host screener events for new "Beyond Barbados" documentary

Beyond Barbados: The Carolina Connection

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV) today announced two screener events taking place in conjunction with the premiere of “Beyond Barbados: The Carolina Connection” – a new, one-hour documentary film airing June 20 at 8 p.m. on SCETV.  

Part of the network’s “Carolina Stories” series, “Beyond Barbados: The Carolina Connection” traces the extensive ties between the colonization of South Carolina and the West Indies island. Written, produced and directed by Sanford Adams, the project was supported by a grant from the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor and features illustrations by James H. Palmer Jr.

As part of an engagement campaign to promote the film, SCETV will be hosting two screener events:

In addition to these events and the broadcast of the one-hour documentary, which includes discussions with historians and scholars from both cultures, the film is being versioned for classroom use, and teacher workshops are being provided throughout the state. Additional details regarding those resources will be announced in the coming weeks.
