Justina Lasley is trying to wake up the world. She is an author and founder of the Institute for Dream Studies. Her mission: to tell everyone in the world of the transformative power of his or her nightly dreams. 

So far, she's making good on her mission by writing multiple books on the subject of dreams and also by creating the Institute for Dream Studies, the certification program for those interested in leading dream groups and spreading the message of the power of the dream. All of this from her home in Charleston, which she touts as her creative inspiration.

Fort Mill High School Student Featured on a National TV Series

Since seventh grade, Lexi Dressing has been tackling gender stereotypes as the only girl on her school football team. Now a junior, Lexi is the kicker for Nation Ford High School’s varsity team.

Lexi’s story was featured on the PBS series, Outside the Box. PBS Student Reporting Labs across the country were challenged to profile young people breaking down stereotypes. The story was produced by Sydney Miller, a junior at Fort Mill High School in Fort Mill.

Winter Weather Continues to Hit Parts of South Carolina Saturday Morning

Parts of South Carolina are continuing to be hit with snow and sleet making travel unpredictable.

The Upstate areas are being hit the most. Snow and ice fell Friday with more expected in northwest South Carolina. The system is expected to end Saturday afternoon. State officials are still warning residents that roadways will be dangerous.

In an update from the SC Emergency Management Division, power was out for about 30,000 utility customers, mostly in counties north and west of Columbia.

Freezing Rain, Snow Hits Parts of S.C. as Winter Storm Sweeps In

The National Weather Service is calling for hazardous winter weather in the parts of the Upstate beginning Friday morning with freezing rain and sleet, gradually changing to snow on Friday night and Saturday morning. 

In the Upstate, officials say travel conditions might become treacherous Friday morning and continue throughout the weekend. Highway Patrol in the affected areas are urging drivers to stay off the roads, unless it is absolutely necessary.

Dangerous Winter Storm Forecast for South Carolina

The South Carolina Emergency Management Division asks residents to prepare themselves and their homes for winter weather. The National Weather Service predicts freezing rain and ice accumulations in the Upstate and northern Midlands lasting into Saturday. State and local agencies are putting emergency plans in place for winter weather and urge everyone in South Carolina to consider preparations to keep your home, community, family, vehicles and pets safe.

Benjamin Elijah Mays

Benjamin Mays (1894-1984) was a minister, educator, scholar and social activist. He was known as the "Father of the Civil Rights Movement." 

Mays was born the youngest in his family and his parents were both former slaves. He grew up in Epworth, South Carolina, just a few miles from Greenwood in a time in history of rigid segregation. This became the defining period of his life and he longed to get an education.
