The Hanahan Butterly and Pollinater Garden located at the Hanahan Public Library has a variety of plants that attract butterflies and pollinators. For our featured segment, we take a behind the scenes tour of two of these places – The Clemson Extension Home and Garden Information Center and The Clemson University Plant and Pest Diagnostic Clinic (formally the Plant Problem Clinic).  The HGIC provides information on landscaping, gardening, plant health, household pests, food safety and preservation, nutrition, physical activity and health via a toll-free line and a searchable database of factsheets.

James not only creates varieties of chocolates with local products, but also works diligently with Harvest Hope Food Bank to provide children at-risk of hunger nutritious meals for the weekend.

The SC Department of Agriculture’s Consumer Protection Division has many departments to safeguard the citizens of South Carolina. Clemson Extension Agent and Host of “Making It Grow” Amanda McNulty talks with Assistant Commissioner Derek Underwood about some of these departments: Consumer Services, Metrology and Food/Feed Safety. Consumer Services Department protects consumers by ensuring that the net content statements on packages and weighing or measuring devices are correct; and that agricultural products are measured accurately for commerce.
