Winter Weather Expected in South Carolina

In a release from South Carolina's Emergency Management Division (SCEMD), residents in South Carolina's coastal counties should monitor local weather conditions and continue winter safety precautions. The National Weather Service predicts the possibility of a wintry mix of snow and rain for all coastal counties beginning Wednesday morning, Jan. 3. Forecasters expect below freezing temperatures to last for most of the week throught the entire state.

"The issues of climate change are huge. Not only are they huge, but they are complex," explains Mildred McClain, Ed.D., of Citizens for Environmental Justice in the upcoming SCETV documentary, Sea Change.

"We have to localize it because if you keep it in its comprehensive, big framework, folks will be overwhelmed and feel as though, 'I can't do anything about that.' But everybody can do something about reducing the carbon footprint, and preparing people to deal with the reality of climate change, which is already with us."

Global Climate Change Summit COP23 Begins in Germany

Today, Nov. 6, 2017, marks the beginning of the world's largest Climate Change Summit. Representatives from almost 200 countries will gather in the city of Bonn, Germany for the United Nations' 23rd climate change conference of the parties, COP23, under the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC), which aims to halt global warming, says the Huffington Post.
