Hard time is even harder these days at the state’s correctional institutions. For weeks, families haven’t been allowed to visit their loved ones behind bars. Volunteers can’t go inside to facilitate programs. Hundreds of inmates have been locked in their rooms all day, every day, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Aftermath of Hurricane Matthew at Hunting Island State Park.SC Department of Insurance Director Ray Farmer spoke with SCETV recently about the importance of getting flood insurance as soon as possible. It’s important to understand it takes 30 days before the insurance goes into effect. Just one inch of water can cause around $25,000 worth of damage, yet most South Carolinians do not have flood Insurance and home owners policies do not cover flooding. Right now less than 10% of people in SC have flood insurance, according to the SC DOI.

By The River set is under construction for Season 2.Production is now underway for the second season of By The River , a collaborative effort of SCETV and The University of South Carolina Beaufort’s communication studies program. This month a new set is being constructed, with the help of the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) students who also take part in the show's production.
