This thoughtfully done documentary takes us to the "Kitchen" which provides meals to the homeless and needy in North Carolina. According to one of the regular diners "The best people hang out here."
With abundant interviews and glorious music, this sensitive film brings home the needs of the community, the helpers, and people who rely on the service. People of all ages come to the kitchen and learn to work together, despite their differences.
We meet the diners who talk about why they come to the kitchen, some of whom come due to illness, fractured families, or who have suffered reduced circumstances. Some are single parents, or those who have lost their income source, while others had worked their whole lives only to find themselves adrift late in their lives. Others are homeless in the community; some living at the various shelters within the community.
