In honor of Music Therapy Awareness Month, South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) invites members of the public to attend live studio tapings of Solbird Sessions, a new music and mental health series, on March 27 at 6 p.m. and March 28 at 2 p.m. at SCETV studios in Columbia. The series is scheduled to premiere this fall.

Created, hosted and produced by Columbia artist TiffanyJ, Solbird Sessions blends live musical performances with guided mental health conversations that explore the connection between creativity and emotional wellbeing. The multi-format series brings together artists, musicians and mental health professionals in a shared space where music, reflection and dialogue intersect.

Each episode features a live performance from a guest artist accompanied by the house band, Rod Foster & Company, under the musical direction of Rodney Foster Jr. Through moderated conversations and mental health-informed segments, the series invites audiences to explore how music can serve as a tool for reflection, resilience and healing.

In addition to TiffanyJ’s role as creator, host and producer, the series is co-produced by Marquis D. Wallace of The Wallace Media Company. SCETV’s Ricky Taylor serves as the executive producer. The production also incorporates musical contributions from Antonio McKie II and J. Rich Williams.

March is Music Therapy Awareness Month, dedicated to highlighting how evidence-based, credentialed music therapy improves physical, emotional, cognitive and social well-being. Professional mental health insight is integrated throughout Solbird Sessions. Board-certified music therapist Alison Hughey contributes pre-taped segments exploring how music therapy supports emotional regulation and wellbeing, while mental health counselor Chris Greene participates in in-studio conversations with artists and audience members.

Solbird Sessions is produced by Solbird Entertainment in partnership with The Wallace Media Company. Production funding is provided by the ETV Endowment of South Carolina, Eugene and Jacqueline Burden, and Jeffries Law Firm.

The March 27 taping will feature live performances and conversation with artists Kayla Joy and Jon Rooks. The program will also include insights from a licensed mental health professional exploring how music can support self-expression and connection with others. Check-in and refreshments begin at 5 p.m., with the taping scheduled from 6–8:30 p.m.

The March 28 taping will feature live performances and conversation with artists Buggy, Darby Wilcox and Trent Cokley. Attendees will also hear from a licensed mental health professional discussing how music can support anxiety, grief, and stress management. Check-in and refreshments begin at 1 p.m., with the taping scheduled from 2–5:30 p.m.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the tapings. Seating is limited, and advance registration is required. This production is being filmed for television, and all minors must be accompanied by a registered adult. Separate registration is required for the March 27 and March 28 taping dates.
