South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) will offer extensive, accessible and transparent coverage of the 2026 legislative session which begins on Jan. 13. Through a combination of live broadcasts, in-depth reporting and livestreaming, SCETV continues its longstanding commitment to ensuring citizens remain informed and engaged with the decisions that shape the state’s future.
State House Today delivers live coverage of the South Carolina House and Senate every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on ETV World. Broadcasting directly from the Statehouse in Columbia, the program provides real-time access to debates, decisions and votes, giving viewers a direct look at the legislative process. This year, SCETV reporters will also be providing daily updates on what to expect each day of the legislative session during the live broadcast, offering audiences added context and insight before proceedings begin. Viewers can watch ETV World using an over-the-air antenna, by streaming live on the SCETV website or by checking their cable provider’s channel listings for ETV World (ETVW).
Complementing this live coverage, the State House Gavel is a daily online reporting blog scheduled to publish each morning Tuesday through Friday while lawmakers are in session. Journalists Gavin Jackson and Maayan Schechter offer timely, contextual reporting on legislative actions, debates and discussions to help South Carolinians stay informed about policies that have potential to impact their daily lives.
Coverage extends beyond the Statehouse chamber through programs such as This Week in South Carolina, airing Fridays at 7:30 p.m. on ETV, providing a recap of the week’s top headlines, and the South Carolina Lede podcast available on Saturdays and Tuesdays, offering in-depth discussions on public policy topics statewide. SCETV will also host a live taping of both programs at the SCETV studio in Columbia on Jan. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives Murrell Smith in a conversation with host Gavin Jackson and Maayan Schechter previewing the 2026 legislative session. The event is free and open to the public, with limited seating available and early registration encouraged. SC Public Radio also provides ongoing reporting during the legislative session during Morning Edition, All Things Considered and through digital stories on the SC Public Radio website. Audiences can also follow SCETV’s legislative reporting and updates on the SCETV News YouTube channel and the SCETV Facebook page.
As South Carolina’s trusted source for public affairs programming and government transparency, SCETV remains committed to keeping citizens informed by providing access to important news and information. Beyond legislative proceedings, SCETV livestreams a range of public meetings, including the State Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and the Public Service Commission, reinforcing its commitment to providing open access to government activity across the state.
SCETV will continue its support of transparency in government by broadcasting and streaming the 2026 Gubernatorial State of the State address in January live on television and radio as well as online. Governor Henry McMaster will outline his priorities for the 2026 legislative session before a joint session of the General Assembly in the South Carolina House Chambers. The Democratic message will follow the address, along with interviews with various members of the state legislature.
